Gem Studies: Malachite In-Person
(Ages 7+)
Inspired by the Joe and Gigi Roberson Mineral Collection, we invite young geologists to discover more about several selected minerals. During each session, we'll highlight and examine a specific stone. Sessions stand alone, so patrons may attend one or all three.
Malachite is a green copper mineral known for its unusual swirling patterns. Participants will learn facts about malachite, will visit the mineral collection to see an example up close, and do a scientific chemical reaction experiment on copper pennies.
